This is a first movie in a while that I really enjoyed from start to finish. The story is not un-heard of or original but it is so well done! The film used split screen technique so both actors are on screen pretty much the whole time. This makes it feel like a theatre piece. The second screen is sometimes used for flashbacks so it never gets boring. The dialog is witty and acting is amazing.

Theatre – Dream machine
The problem with aligning my blog with my movie going experience is that if I don’t go to a movie for a couple of weeks, I forget to write the blog.
I have been to the theatre though. We’ve gone to see The Dream Machine at the NAC. The play was about Beatniks. It was musical and it was fun.
On the home front we’re trying to come up with a name for the baby. So far we’re considering Liam, Andrew and Dylan. I like them all but nothing really sticks. Whatever his name is he is kicking like he’s getting ready for the World Cup. Kick Kick!
Film – The Science of Sleep
This is a really lovely film. Visuals are great and acting is fantastic. I can’t really think of a film I’ve seen with Gael García Bernal in which he was not fantastic, but this film convinced me that he is an acting genius. He actually seems half a meter shorter than he was in “Motorcycle Diaries” and “Bad Education”. Other actors, though I have not seen them before, are amazing as well. While I was watching the film, I had some trouble with the plot. Thinking back at it now, it was not too bad.
Mirrors
For my b-day Chris took me out to dinner and a show. We saw Sankai Juku: KAGEMI – Beyond the Metaphors of Mirrors. It was quite fantastic. For me, modern dance is very hit-and-miss, but this was a definite hit.
On the home front, I have been able to feel the baby move. Chris was all envy for the entire week, but yesterday he felt it too.
Theatre – The Wrong Son
We went to see ‘The Wrong Son’ at NAC the other day. It is a sort of noir musical. A jazz band was on stage and the actors sang their parts. It was quite nice even though I can’t write elegant sentences right now.
