I’ve forgotten how much I like Orwell. I read him in high school and really liked him, but have not picked him up since assuming it was just a high school crush. Well, I just started reading Burmese Days and I can’t put it down.
Month: May 2007
Film – Spiderman 3
It turns out I have tendonitis in my right ankle. So pretty much most of my exercise is out. Fortunately we’ve opened the pool this week so I got to swim a bit. It was nice and it is only going to get nicer. As bad as it might be for my foot, I ended up taking Trevor for a walk today – he just would not sleep otherwise.
I am starting to do research again. I am working it out with Chris so I can go to Carleton in the evenings. It’s risky, but I hope it works out, I’d like to get grad school done and over with.
Film – Georgia Rule

I have too many activities going on. I want to get to as many strollercise classes as possible but, except for Mondays, I have another activity every morning. I am doing three different yogas now and I think I will end up dropping one. I have to figure out which though.
My attempt of getting back into shape is on track so far. I have dropped from size 12 to 10 in a month and a half and i was 6 before getting pregnant.
I have started working in the yard. I got the kid across the street to get rid of dandelions which I an really glad for since I never would have started gardening if I had all the dandelions to pick out. It took him six hours. I have now started to get rid of rocks from the side of the driveway and I’ve cleaned up entrance to the yard and the trampoline area. Chris is getting the pool ready. It should be swimable by next weekend.
Film – Next
I am getting ready to go to this week’s cinematic adventure so it was high time to list the last week’s film. There were exactly two good moments in the Next. One was when one of the bad guys swore in a south slavic language and the other was the pun in the last scene. Was it worth dredging through the whole film for the somewhat funny image in the last scene, I’ll leave it to yourselves to determine.
Film – Hot Fuzz
I’ve made it back to Stars and Strollers this Thursday. If you’re not looking for biting satire this is a really fun buddy film.
Parking downtown
I take Trevor and myself to Rama Lotus on Gladstone and Bank on Wednesdays for mom and baby yoga class. Last week I begrudgingly turned into the parking lot I usually park in the evenings even though it was 6$ only to realise that it was valet. I didn’t want to be late so I reluctantly gave over my key. When I got back the door was open and the key was in the ignition. Not that I have anything valuable in the car or that I don’t have insurance, but anyone could have jumped in the car and driven off before the attendant even knew what was going on.
This was enough to make me reconsider going to yoga classes downtown during the day, but the class was quite good so I decided to park in a different parking lot next time. So today after circling around for a bit and backing out of some tight corners, I finally found a place. I had a bit of trouble parking in, but the guy who was there (who had to wait to get out until I was parked) ended up giving me his parking stub so at least I parked for free. On my way out, I gave the stub to another guy and then proceeded to back into and scratch his brand new car. He let me go free, but he was not happy.
I will give this class one more chance, but if there’s any trouble next time I will have to find another activity for Wednesday mornings.
