The coolest product for baby boys

Chris just got back from Arbour with these things…

Over last several days Trevor has had a full schedule. We’ve been to the National Arts Gallery and the War Museum. We’ve visited Grandma in Montreal and made several trips to the Berrys in Gatineau. Trevor has visited restaurants representing most major food bearing ethnicities and gone for a few nice walks. He had gotten to know his grandparents and made new friends. He even visited my work and met my colleagues. He did most of this while asleep.
When he is awake, he likes to listen to music (he appreciates a good beat). He likes to play with his mobile, but gets annoyed with it after a few minutes. Similarly, he loves to make crawling attempts while on his belly, but only until he realises that he is just not there yet. He is trying really hard to turn from belly to back, he might be able to do it in a few days.
I am contemplating moving him to his own room. We tried it one night ant it worked out well. I just need to convince myself that he is old enough.

We’ve been busy adjusting our parenting angle. All the preparation we’ve done over the years is coming in handy but also confusing us. We’ve been trying to figure out different cries and determine what our responses to those should be. It is still too hard to tell how well we’re doing. Whenever we think we’ve mastered a skill, Trevor grows up a bit and throws us another loop. Unless something is bothering him, Trevor is usually in a very good mood. We’ve been trying to keep him awake in the evening so he can sleep through the night. Last night he slept for record 6 hours. Let’s see if we’re lucky enough to continue the trend.
Trevor can now follow toys with his eyes and is almost at the point where he can grab at things. Chris’ beard is his favourite. His neck muscles are getting stronger as is the rest of him. He has gained quite a bit of weight as well. He is trying to grab onto things and put them in his mouth, but still has not figured out how.
Trevor had a busy week. He attended his first party and went for lunches at restaurants. We went for a couple of walks as well.
We went for a nice walk to the canal. This is the first time this winter I’ve made it this far so it is pretty impressive for Trevor.

Last day of skating for 2007
Last Friday we went to Charissa’s b-day party and had a blast. Trevor was asleep at first, but woke up and joined the fun once the crowd arrived. He met the cat, mingled with the d00ds and even got frisky with Maria.

Partying down at Paul and Charissa’s
Today we went for coffee at Bridgehead. Bridgehead is my favourite coffee shop in Ottawa. I was a bit nervous about feeding Trevor in public. Then I looked around and realised that there were at least two nursing mothers within a cat swing from me. Go baby-friendly space!
As if we didn’t dote on Trevor enough, this week he got to be snorgled by not one but two grandparents!
Here’s a picture of my mom with Trevor:

Here’s a video my dad took of Trevor batting at toys:
Trevor had some problems with a stuffy nose this week, but he is better now. He must have inherited the bad nasal structure from me. He was very stoic about the whole affair.
My first week home alone with Trevor went well enough for a while. I took naps and went for nice walks with the sleeping baby. My system fell apart on Thursday when Trevor went into a cluster feed mode. By the time he was feeding for five hours straight I was completely exhausted. Chris stayed with me on Friday and my mom arrived on Saturday so I am getting my act together again. We are expecting my dad on Monday so I will have help next time this happens.
Trevor is doing very well, he is trying very hard to crawl when we put him on his belly. He can hold up his head for a couple of seconds and he is trying to figure out how to flip from front to back and vice versa. Here is a picture of him stretching after his big feeding spurt.
