I love my neighbourhood

The neighbours had a party for Trevor this Saturday. There were about 10 families from our street. We’ve had a great time and Trevor got to be held by most ladies.

For the rest of the weekend Trevor got to play with nona. He absolutely loves his grandmother, whenever she would pass by to take a look at him he would smile the biggest smile.

He is doing quite well, he is almost sleeping through the night by my standards (he wakes up at 5 AM now). He is chatting when he sees people, making funny noises when none is around and singing when I play the music. He has almost figured out how to take advantage of opposable thumbs.

Right now he’s watching the game with daddy.

Crazy sleeper

Yesterday Trevor was asleep the whole day, today I had to take him for a stroll to get him to sleep.

Debugging naps

I took Trevor to Montreal to visit Luisa yesterday. This meant two and a half hour car ride in each direction. I was worried about him spending too much time in his car seat, but when he was awake he was in a great mood. I think that he really needs to sleep more during the day but he usually refuses. It seems like the only way to get him sleeping during the day is to put him in his car chair. On the other hand I an worried about him spending too much time in it. For now I figure that getting enough sleep is more important. However, I wonder if I should try and get him used sleeping in the bed during the day. I tried several times to get him to sleep in bed and at best I got him to sleep for 20 minutes at worst I got an annoyed baby.

The trip to Montreal was great, it is always fun having people fuss over the baby. Luisa and I even got some shopping done with Trevor being very cooperative.

Sleepy patterns

Trevor is getting more and more active. He has decided to skip his afternoon nap for two days in the row. He fell asleep today though. We’ve been singing and dancing all week. On Wednesday I was so exhausted I decided to go for a walk and he fell asleep by the time we’ve reached the bottom of the driveway. Yesterday we went to watch Chris play soccer. Playing with Trevor is tons of fun but I can’t wait for the weekend to get some rest. In fact I think I’ll try and rest before he wakes up right now.

Grabby

Trevor is starting to grab things. I am not quite sure how I only see him batting at things, but when I look at him after I had looked away, he has things in his hands. He can move stuffed toys and he had little plastic chain links in his hand while sitting in the swing.

His mood has been changing so quickly. One minute he is happy another minute it’s wail-o-rama. Here’s an example:

Calmly asleep on daddy
Calmly asleep on daddy…

Waaaaaa!!!
Waaaaaa!!!

I think I have figured out the problem with the feedings (with a little help from med student sister). The reason he wails in the middle of feeding is that his hernia gets pressured by incoming food. He seemed to be ok today.

Trevor is starting to chat and interact with us. The following example was so cute we turned it sideways:

Smiling on demand

We did the ultrasound today and it turns out that Trevor does have two little hernias. The radiologist did not want to tell me anything as to what happens next. I don’t know whether and when it will be operated on. Trevor was very cooperative with ultrasound – nothing like his in utero self. In fact, he has been a happy little guy all day.

Wide awake day

Trevor is finally asleep so I have a chance to sit down. He is quickly growing and developing. He is quite good at grabbing blankets, towels and particularly my hair. He can move stuffed toys, but the grip is still a bit shy. We’ve had a busy week. We’ve been to two yoga classes and a strollercise and he was cooperative in all of them. We’ve been to the movies and visited with neighbours.

Trevor is able to sit in the bath tub now so washing him is fun and not scary as before. He is starting to pull things towards his mouth so we have to be careful on different front. He has woken up so I better get back to playing with him.
