Skating away!
According to a family legend, the first spanking I ever got was because I was trying to play cymbals with pot covers. Obviously, such punishment did not work since when Trevor discovered pot covers the other day, I could not come up with a single reason to stop him from banging them together. Chris ended up exchanging the glass one with another metal cover once Trev started throwing them on the floor, but other than that we’re making great sounds.

In other news, canal finally opened this weekend. We’ve had a great skate…

Followed by some yummy chocolate banana cake…

Taking the matters into his own hands
If I want anything done around here, I have to do it myself.
Trevor’s War on Naps
Chris and I have been sleep deprived for last week or so because Trevor figured out how to effectively resist nap and sleepy times. He also learned how to effectively manage sleep deprived parents by being extra cute and cheery and only whining when such an action would appeal to our sense of guilt over being too sleepy to pay attention to our baby.
Trevor learned to play basketball. He’s been practicing dumping the baby soccer ball into his favourite gum bucket by holding it high in front of himself. He is even working on dribbling. He loves climbing over us and has a good rhythm when dancing.
We’re starting to feed him foods we’re eating. Here’s a picture of Trevor figuring the breaking strain of cooked pasta. Before the phone rings off the hook, I will point out that we only fed him pasta cut in small bits. The long strain was just for him to play with. It was highly unlikely to end up anywhere near his mouth and it finally made it to the floor after about five minutes. It was, amazingly enough, still unbroken.

Trevor in Warmairland
Trevor has developed uncanny ability to locate a non-toy amongst dozens of toys. Heat register is one of his favourites. Most of the time we stop him from playing with it, but the other day Chris and I were looking forward to having breakfast at the same time without having to keep Trev in his highchair. We brought the foodinto the dining room and let Trev run rampant in the living room while we watch him.
It only took him a minute to attack the poor old hear register. Since it is not actually dangerous, we just let it pass. Then he started throwing toys into the hole and we considered stopping him, but decided that they don’t have too far to go and we’ll just take them out when we’re done with breakfast.
Well, Trevor then grabbed one of the floor mat sides and pushed it, like a pipe cleaner, down the register hole. There was nothing for us to do but laugh and take this picture. Originally he was posing with a big grin, but by the time I pressed the shutter, he realised that the best thing to do is to distance himself from the scene of the crime.

He eventually managed to fall into the register hole, surprisingly enough, without learning the lesson. We’ve taped up the register since. Now he only has fireplace to climb on and paint on the doors to chew.

New discoveries
Trevor’s favorite things right now are cabinet doors. He is slowly figuring out how to open different drawers and cabinets. He is getting really good at climbing and is more comfortable standing. He still needs to hold on to something while upright, but he is starting to let go for brief moments. He has also discovered that he can shriek really loudly so he spends a lot of time standing around and practicing loudness.
