Trevor is starting to get himself ready for the role of big brother. He refers to himself and big boy and says ‘me love baby’. He is used to his big boy bed. For a while he was getting up in the middle of the night and either wondering around or going into our bedroom and snuggling up between us. He stayed in his room last two nights so I hope the novelty of being able to walk around the house whenever he pleased had worn off in favour of some sleep.

He is climbing like mad and loves going to the park. He looks quite rough right now because besides the little bruises from his climbing expeditions, he tends to scratch mosquito bites so he is full of little red dots.
When at home, he loves to cook. His favourite thing to make is pasta though anything small enough to fit into the pot is fair game. When he is not cooking he plays with cars and trucks or with puzzles. He loves being read to, particularly Dick Bruna and Eric Carle. He has a vintage big red fire engine which he loves wrapping up in blankie and pretending it is asleep.

Trev took a few days to get over the jet lag and readjust to being back home and then he spent a week at his grandma in Montreal. I went to get him yesterday and he has been an absolute darling ever since.

He is quite chatty now and is able to express most of his less complex wishes. He is also a little bit easier to take places. We went to the hardware store and, apart from hiding under a shelf for a moment, he behaved very well, despite the fact that we had to wait for help a few times.

He is now very used to sleeping in the big boy bed. Apparently, he goes to the bathroom by himself at daycare, but I have not seen any of this at home. I think he is aware that he has a little brother on the way, but he has not yet expressed any opinion on it. He still refers to himself as a baby, as well as a boy, but I think that is because he does not want to be put in the position of pronouncing his name. He is starting to show some interest in playing with other kids, though he is still very cautions.
