I have only a few minutes to write this post. Today both boys fell asleep at the same time and stayed asleep for about two hours. However, by the time I got everything I needed to get done done, including uploading the latest photos, they were both up and ready to be played with.

Trev fell asleep in a box. It is lucky he did fall asleep, because he is skipping his afternoon nap more and more to the detriment of his late afternoon mood. In any case, he was sitting in the box for about 15 minutes sheepishly watching me until he started falling inside of the box more and more until he fell asleep. He had his skates in the box with him, though he did take the trouble of taking them off his feet first. He has been wearing them around the house for about two days now.
Owen gained a kilo since coming back from the hospital. He is spending more time awake. He has to work on this as Trevor was already asking if Owen can play hockey with him.

Trevor has been at home with me for the last little while and we’re having lots of fun playing with his blocks. The latest craze is to make hockey rink or soccer field and play with the ball inside of it. Today the new addition to the game were the goal posts. The weekend Owen was born, Trevor caught a cold that eventually spread to the whole family. It wasn’t a bad cold, but it is taking a long time to get rid of it. Because of our runny noses with combination of really cold weather outside we have been a bit house locked. We did manage to go out a couple of times. Once Trevor gets outside, we can’t get him back in. He loves playing with snow chunks and making snow angels.

Owen has been doing well too. He took a bit of a hit with the cold and one day he did not gain much weight (we are doing newborn weight loss study for the hospital so we were weighing him every day). However, the next day he went into cluster feed mode and made up the difference. At night he wakes up every two and a half hours though he has been known to sleep up to four or five hours at the time.

I have to make sure I take time and write, though I have so much else going on.

Owen is a surprisingly calm baby. He mostly sleeps for now and when he is awake je just looks around and follows sounds. He is gaining weight at a good pace and has reached his birth weight yesterday. Despite this, he spends very little time eating. Usually he will drink milk for about 15 minutes and then fall asleep. No amount of tickling or letting him be without his shirt will keep him awake.
He makes very cute facial expressions, particularly when he is done feeding. His complexion is dark and he has quite a bit of hair, including on his earlobes. He has little white dots on his nose and the shape of his forehead and nose makes him look a lot like me when I was a baby.
Trevor is being a wonderful big brother. He likes to beep Owen’s nose and sometimes he tickles his feet. Now that I am at home, and with Owen sleeping so much, Trevor and I are spending a lot of time together. He has setup a “garbage truck” in the corner of the room that he drives. He set this up using his little table and a chair on top of it for truck window.

I got him some construction blocks from the Socialist era and he has been having great fun with them. I have been trying to capture some good photos of him playing, this is the best I can do.
Trevor has gotten into dancing and sometimes he will ask me to dance with him. Of course, we can’t dance while the radio announcer is talking, only once the music starts. Eventually dancing turns into him running circles around me and falling over much to his amusement.

Owen Christopher was born this Sunday morning at 8:18 AM. He weighted just under 3 kg (6lb 9.5oz). He decided to join us after a night out in Carleton Place. We had a nice dinner and went to a pantomime show a friend of ours was acting in. Owen was active the whole night and half way through the second act I started feeling contractions. After the show we quickly said goodbye to our friends and rushed home for some last minute preparations and a nap. Around 1:30 it was time to go to the hospital where we arrived at shortly after 2AM. Everything went really well and Owen was born in the morning.
Because we had planned a night out, Trevor had spent the previous day and was sleeping over with his cousins. He ended up spending an extra day with them and had a great time, particularly at the Christmas party in the Lansdowne Park. He was quite curious but cautious when meeting Owen eventually declaring “I like Owen”.
So far Owen has been pretty easygoing. He naps a lot and is a good feeder. He has the funniest little screech though we don’t hear it very often since, when he is hungry, he just opens his mouth.

Assuming Mommy wants to keep both boys in the same site. Say hello to Owen!

And, for balance, here’s Trevor recapturing his youth, as seen here
