Almost Tripod

Owen is almost at the stage where he can sit in tripod position. He can sit now, but only for a moment until he falls over. He must have been going through a growth spurt because he has been eating a lot. It seems to have slowed down now. He is paying more and more attention to his brother and all other goings on. He is no longer content to just lie around and get massaged or tickled during bath time, he wants to be held so he can kick and dance around with his feet. He is very social and the more I hold him and entertain him, the more he smiles and laughs.

Trevor is making new logical connections, today he discussed the difference between knee and leg with daddy. He managed to dress himself to go outside with no help whatsoever, including zipping up his jacket. He has a few tricks to make Owen laugh. For example, he sits or lies on his belly or legs and Owen giggles and smiles so I assume it far from bothers him. Trevor is still very interested in beavers so he gets Chris to show him different videos on YouTube.

Trev will need to work on understating smiles for the camera. This weekend at his grandma house, Trev asked me to put Owen in the toy stroller so he can push him around. Owen seemed happy enough with the situation so we run to get a camera. It went something like this:

“Smile!”

“Ok, don’t smile.” At this point he realised that the wheels on the stroller were bending and demanded that Owen be taken out of the stroller lest it broke. We managed to convince him to do another pose before taking Owen out.

Punk and Emo

I wash both boys at once because it seems faster that way. I put Owen, still dressed, in the dry baby tub on the floor while I get Trev into the regular tub and soap him up and rinse him off. Then I let him splash around while his tub fills. I get Owen on the counter, put his tub up and fill it with water while I soap him and wipe the soap off with face cloths. When the baby tub is ready I put Owen in and let him splash around as well. Today after his bath, while Trevor was still splashing, I remembered that I used to comb his hair into a fauxhavk when he was Owen’s age. I brushed Owen’s hair up and I was able to get it to stick.

However, the hair just did not seem right. He looked like an upside-down radish, which is kind of cute, but just not him. Then I realized that while Trevor is a punker, Owen is totally Emo. Just imagine him with a guitar and a hoodie!

I am running low on photos because we’ve misplaced the camera, but I can assure you, both boys are super cute.

We went for a walk in the bog today and it was fantastic. Trev was very interested in different trees and beavers. We saw a muskrat (or a really small beaver) and several beaver houses and identified at least two kinds of tree.

Trev is starting to talk in Croatian. I got him to say “Molim jos voda” when he wanted more water. he is not too keen on cases yet. In English he is progressing very well though still insists on looking for sockses rather than socks. His cutest misuse is insistence of usage of the word never in present tense only. For example “I _never_ like milk-med” (milk-med being his favorite drink).

Owen is eating more and sleeping more. He is a very smiley kid though apparently he screams when I am out of the house. He is starting to really like his brother.

Beaver eats the tree and tree falls in water!

Owen can play with the rattle if I put it into his hand. He can bring it to his mouth and bring the other hand over it. His head is more and more stable on his neck and he still loves “standing”. He can flip from front to back and from back to side. He is getting more and more interested in his big brother. He laughs any time he gets his diaper changed or, really, any time he is naked. He loves taking baths and splashes with gusto.

We took Trevor for a walk in the Stony Swamp yesterday. He had lots of fun throwing snow balls and playing with sticks. He learned to recognise birch trees and beaver “bites”. We saw a lot of chickadees. At home Trevor is starting to draw more.

I need to play!

Trevor has been asleep since he came back from daycare. Whenever Anaj, the other three year old is there, Trev gets so exhausted he falls asleep in the car and sleeps pretty much until the next morning. He might wake up to have some milk and watch Thomas, but that’s about it.

When he is awake, Trevor tends to get really into whatever he is doing. His latest favourite toys are measuring cups and spoons. He will hold measuring cup and babble something along the lines “Here is milk, I am making gris.” I let him have some water in the measuring cups in the kitchen and he spilled most of it though he got a bit of play done.
