{"id":1449,"date":"2013-05-17T22:37:42","date_gmt":"2013-05-18T02:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bojnberry.ca\/~boj\/blog\/?p=1449"},"modified":"2013-05-19T13:57:05","modified_gmt":"2013-05-19T17:57:05","slug":"public-service-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bojnberry.ca\/~boj\/blog\/?p=1449","title":{"rendered":"Public service announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City has put out a <a href=\"http:\/\/ottawa.ca\/en\/city-hall\/public-consultations\/building-liveable-ottawa-official-plan-and-master-plan-review\">cycling survey<\/a> as a part of the &#8220;Building a Liveable Ottawa&#8221; initiative. If you cycle in Ottawa, or would like to, please fill it out!<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the things I wrote about in the survey:<\/p>\n<p>Problems:<br \/>\n&#8211; Bike lane on north bound March Road between Carling and Solandt disappears forcing cyclist to merge into rush hour traffic just to keep going straight<br \/>\n&#8211; Turning left from Carling onto Davidson Side Road is really difficult in rush hour traffic<br \/>\n&#8211; No easily accessible bike rack at the Beaverbrook Library Depot<\/p>\n<p>Could use:<br \/>\n&#8211; A multi use path (MUP) from the West District Library to the Kanata North Recreation Centre would make it easier for youth and traffic-averse adults to cycle to either location.<br \/>\n&#8211; Segregated lane or bike lane along Eagleson and Hazeldean<\/p>\n<p>There are other areas that could use improvements but I stuck to the most critical or at least the ones I would really appreciate getting fixed soon. <\/p>\n<p>While there is a lot more that could be done, I am really happy with the City&#8217;s progress on the cycling front.
