How do you tap the baby?

After all the excitement over the weekend about impending c-section, the doctors decided today that the baby looks healthy and that they are not in such a rush to get him out. I am still monitored daily, but it does not look like he’ll be out this week (unless he decides so on his own).

I am so excited and overwhelmed with emotion about the baby that I can’t read anything about mommies and babies without tearing up. The baby is very active and territorial. Whenever there is a monitor on my stomach he keeps kicking it and is sometimes quite successful in keeping it off for a couple of seconds.

The funniest thing we’ve seen at the hospital was this woman who was ineffectually attempting to soothe her baby in the hallway. The baby was in the hospital tray and the mom was tapping it gently. She was doing it so gently that I don’t think that baby actually felt anything (except, maybe, his blanket moving). It never occurred to me that tapping is a learned skill. We’ve so much to learn!

Film – Cannes Add Fest 2006

Amusingly enough the theatre did not show commercials before the start of the show.

Edit – I have been corrected. The first add was an actual add for Globe and Mail. It only _wanted_ to make it to Cannes.

What happens when you listen to CBC 1 on a Sunday morning

(Conversation is paraphrased due to failing memory)

Chris: There is a lot of junk being published now-a-days because there is a market for it. It makes it difficult to recognise quality material.

Boj: It really has to do with market demographics.

Chris: Yes, of course. People who read “Angels and Demons” will not read “The Kite Runner”.

Chantal: So how was “The Kite Runner”?

Chris: I don’t know, I read “Angels and Demons”.

Mental note

Next time I go to Green Papaya I must remember not to order the curry. I’ve mistakenly ordered it two times in the row and hated it both times. I like the tapioca pudding though.

Chris makes excellent curry (not one, but two different recipes) and I remember having good curry at Coriander Thai. Any other Thai curry I’ve ordered I’ve ended up not liking.

The baby still has not turned around. C’mon little guy!
