Film – Wolverine

We finally got some serious landscaping done in our side yard. This area had been a literal thorn in our side since we moved in because it had a lot of compacted gravel in it making us unable to do anything else there other than grow very large and thorny weeds. Well, no more. Chris rented a bobcat and removed the gravel this weekend. He rototillered the dirt and put some more top soil down.

I am so happy this got done. This area alone is larger than the whole back yard in our first house. What’s more is that this is the only area of our yard that is in the sun all day. Can you say veggie garden? I can. For the most part we will seed it and make it a place for Trevor to throw the ball around. I will put some taller perennials and wines next to the fence to dress it up a bit and put the veggie garden and the compost there.

Film – The Art Star and the Sudanese Twins

Luisa finally made me get out to the movies again. Last year I saw about half a dozen movies that I liked but that should have been at least 30 minutes shorter than they are. When I see a few unsatisfying movies in a row I usually stop going to the cinema for a while until the trend changes and there is something new going on in the rep house fashion world.

Well, it looks like I came out too soon. The Art Star would have been a fantastic 60 minute film but it was stretched over twice as long. Note to filmmakers: if a scene does not offer any new sense or idea that has not yet been explored in the film thus far – it is ok to cut it, nobody will miss it.

I am going back into hiding now. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll come out to see Wolverine…

I actually believed an April Fools joke today. For about 10 minutes I was fuming about Ontario bringing in a mandatory driver’s licenses for cyclist that would have to be displayed on the backs of helmets. Silly me.

The Nothink Weekend

I have been feeling really exhausted for last two months and I ended up getting a cold on Wednesday. This put me completely out of commission. I really need to recover, not just from the cold, but from the constant work/school/housework cycle.

In any case, I’ve made this weekend a no-think weekend. I am not allowed to do any schoolwork whatsoever, only do the basic housework and rest. I get a headache if I just lie in bed so I finished some knitting projects. I made a hockey sweater for Trev, though whether he will thank me or chalk this one to the “my mom was so horrible, she made me wear handmade clothes” list, I don’t know.

In any case, I wasn’t sure I would actually knit entire sweater so I used krummy yarn, If I knit him any more clothes I will use better quality materials. It is still too big on him because I want him to wear it next year for skating lessons. It is not quite done, I still have to sew a number on the back. I wasn’t going to put anything on the front because old-timey sweaters did not have logos.

Anyhow, I am going to go back to resting now. Wish me speedy recovery!
