Film – Burn After Reading

I absolutely love being in the mountains. I don’t go very often and I rarely think about it, but when I am in the mountains, I am so happy.

Chris took me on a little weekend getaway to Vermont. We went up Killington in the gondola, walked down and then spent the rest of the day in and around Woodstock. The next day we went to the White Rocks conservation area.

Next time it would be nice to stay there a few more days and bring Trev. I like staying in B&Bs but I don’t like eating at restaurants every night. Getting something with a little kitchenette would be nice. This time around we didn’t do any serious hiking because we had problems with hiking shoes (as in I don’t own any and Chris forgot to bring his), but it would be nice to remedy that in the future.

Film – The Last Mistress

I have been making dessert loafs lately. I’ve gotten request for zucchini loaf from Eating Light, Eating Right. I’ve modified it somewhat to fit my style better (and not be in flagrant disregard for the copyright),

Wet: 1 egg, 1 egg white, 1/4 cup veg oil, 1/4 plain yog, 1/4 cup honey, 1 bag vanilla sugar
Dry: 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp salt
Veggies: 1/2 carrot, 1 cup zucchini, 1/2 cup raisins

Mix wet a little bit, mix dry, mix both, add veggies. Bake at 370F (175C) for an hour.

I am still not too sure I got it right. I think I will replace vanilla extract that I’ve used before with vanilla sugar and perhaps experiment with more veggies… There is another loaf that I’ve made with apples and dry cramberries that was good too, but I need to add many more apples than the recipe asks for next time.

Film – Hamlet 2

One of the myriad thoughts that went through my head today was “OMG blog!” I have been very negligent with updating both mine and Trev’s blogs. I have been crazy busy and quite stressed out. As usual I have a lot on my plate.

I did manage to go to the Opera on the weekend, so all is not that bad. I am also taking a course this semester. It is an Open Source Development course. The teacher is falling over backwards to make it exciting so I am looking forward to it.

I managed to close down the front garden the weekend before and I just have to do the back now. I will try and do it on the weekend. Trev is being wonderful and tonight he is all mine. I’ll take him to the park if the weather is nice.

Film – Encounters At The End Of The World

OMG! OMG! Can I fit in any more activities before the summer is out? We’re crazy busy!!!

But I made a nice tart, went on a few day hikes, did some BBQ, dug out side yard, worked at work and school, spent time with family….

Tart

Two more weeks and the fall can start, see if I care. In fact, I am really looking forward to it.

Film – Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Every film critic since I can remember begins review of the latest Woody Allen film stating that Allen is well past his prime. Frankly, I don’t quite understand why. I quite enjoyed many of his later films. There is a dud every once in a while, but that was true in his early years as well.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona is very enjoyable. Perhaps I don’t appreciate his early work enough, but I though this is one of his better films.

Film – The Dark Knight

We attended the Chamber Music Festival this year. I managed to make it to 6 shows and it was great.

St. Lawrence String Quartet and Tokai String Quartet
Late Night at the Legion – Carmen’s Fantasies
Nexus
Crazy! (I Furiosi Baroque Ensemble)
Next (virtuoso trumpeters Paul Merkelo, Niklas Eklund and Rex Richardson)
